June 4 - Khenpo Chonyi coming to the center PDF Print E-mail

Brief Introduction of Khenpo Chonyi

Khenpo Chonyi was born in family upholding the tradition of practicing Buddhism vigorously.  His maternal grandfather was good practitioner following the Nyingma lineage. His father is also very good dharma practitioner. At a very young age of around 6, in 1983, Lama Sonam Wangchuk took him to Nepal where he started his schooling and monastic life in a Thrangu Monastery. He continued his higher education at the Namo Buddha shedra and acquired his title of Khenpo in 2003.

His knowledge and abilities were soon recognized by The Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche who appointed him to assume the task as the Principal of Himalayan School Children in 2004.  His performance excels all his predecessors and he has proven to be the best Principal ever for the position.

His management skills and approachable personality earn him respect from all who have worked with him.  The Venerable Thrangu Rinpoche again appointed him to be the chief administrator/ consultant in overseeing all the Thrangu monasteries and dharma centers around the world.

KTZL is much privileged to have Khenpo Chonyi with us at our centre on June 4, 2009 at 7 pm.  He is going to share with us the experience of his monastic life. His main purpose of visiting Canada is to raise money for the project of the Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School, The Venearble Thrangu Rinpoche's School for Himalayan children. Any donations big or small are welcome to support the good cause for the Himalayan School Children. For more information about the school, you can visit at www.himalayanchildren.org
